Welcome to Amira – Feeling at home in Istanbul

Welcome to Amira

If you are looking for  place to stay in the center of Istanbul, Hotel Amira might be your home away from home.

Due to the attacks which happened since January, many people keeped asking us, if we are really going to stay in Istanbul in these days. I must admit I kept thinking and rethinking until the last moment.

But finally I decided that we are not willing to give in to violence and fear. I had waited for a long time to visit this beautiful town and this was not meant to be given up because of some people with weired ideas about the world in their heads.

I am so glad we did not change our plans as we would have missed a beautiful, powerful and inspiring city.

One important aspect was that we found a home away from home.

I had chosen Hotel Amira because of its perfect location and because of the positive echo it received from guests from all around the world.

We actually arrived with high expectations as Hotel Amira had so many very positive reviews on all websites and were finally not disappointed.

When we arrived at Atatürk Airport the transfer to the hotel was perfectly arranged and even a child seat for little Felicia was provided.

Arrived at the hotel we received a warm welcome and -what a nice surprise – an upgrade from a standard double room to a deluxe room.

The room itself offered enough space for two adults and little Felicia and all the lovely details made us feel at home from the very first moment.

Before leaving the hotel at our first day we received a detailed introduction accompanied by a welcome drink and a map. Many important spots can be found in walking distance : 5 min. to the Blue Mosque, 10 min. to Hagia Sophia, 15 min. to Topkapi Palace, 20 min. to the Grand Bazar and 25 min. to the Spice Bazar.

If you want to get a first impression of the surrounding, just find your way to the amazing rooftop terrace and inhale the spirit of Istanbul.

In everyday life I don’t give much about breakfast. When travelling around, breakfast becomes very important to me and a first good impression of a hotel can be easily ruined if I do not like the breakfast. This is nothing Hotel Amira has to worry about. Excellent quality and a great variety make the breakfast an experience that gives you a good start into the day. No matter if you like a sweet, a healthy, a Turkish, an English breakfast or a combination you will find everything.

Breakfast

In the afternoon you have the possibility to take a free 5 o’clock tea which actually means a buffet of tasty bakery, delicious sweets and fresh fruits accompanied by coffee, tea or homemade lemonade. We were under the impression that noone of the guests in the hotel left this out.

For dinner good restaurants can be found around the corner.

Hotel Amira lets you stay connected when exploring town by providing a mobile wireless internet modem. We tried it and it worked out very well and helped us to get more information when needed.

But let’s come to the most important factor that differs a good hotel from others: the people working there. At Hotel Amira we experienced friendliness and helpfullness at any time. Whatever question we had, it was answered immediately.
